Our findings suggested that supplementing with CoQ10 may be beneficial for preventing contrast-induced acute kidney injury. Thus, it appears that CoQ10 can serve as a useful addition to hydration strategies in protecting the kidneys during critical cardiac interventions.

Coenzyme Q10 Modulates Remodeling Possibly by Decreasing Angiotensin-Converting Enzyme in Patients with Acute Coronary Syndrome.
We investigated how coenzyme Q10 might help with heart function after a heart attack, particularly focusing on its role in heart remodeling. In a well-structured study involving 55 patients with left ventricular dysfunction following an acute myocardial infarction, we compared the effects of coenzyme Q10 to a placebo over a 24-week period.
Through careful measurements using echocardiography, we observed notable improvements in the walls of the heart and overall heart mass for those taking coenzyme Q10. Specifically, the thickness of the heart walls decreased, and the left ventricular mass was reduced more significantly than in those receiving the placebo.
Additionally, coenzyme Q10 appeared to maintain heart shape and prevent worsening of heart function compared to the placebo group. Our results also highlighted a significant drop in angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) levels in the coenzyme Q10 group, suggesting beneficial effects on heart remodeling and function during recovery from a heart attack.
